It is a real story of integration that takes place on June 21, 2019 on the Piazza Calavecchia of Amantea where all ages, origins and religions come together to attend the final evening of the traveling Calabrian screening, led by La Guarimba. The 35 short films created during the Kino Guarimba residency are the center piece of this last evening of the fourth edition of CinemAmbulante.<\/p>\n

A story that mixes culture and resistance: the fourth edition took place without the MiBACT funding which, until the year before, had supported our project thanks to the MigrArti prize, unfortunately nowadays gone. It however showed us that will and determination are essential qualities to continue to make the project grow: \u201cWe do not depend on funds, but on this desire to do and to believe in the potential of our territory. This year was one of resistance, let\u2019s hope the next one is one of sustainability.\u201d \u2013 says Giulio Vita, artistic director of La Guarimba.<\/p>\n

12 days, 9 cities, 7 films, 7 short films, all in European premiere, and 80 artists coming from 5 different continents who are challenged at Amantea, transforming this city into a large open-air film set. Only certain productions of the 2019 edition of CinemaAmbulante involved the 350 spectators who came to attend the final screening.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe artists of Kino Guarimba have produced 35 short films in which they have managed to integrate all kinds of faces, all ages, from children to teenagers, adults to elders, and to represent all social classes \u2013 Vita continues. For us, that was the real victory: being able to involve the whole city through cinema. This very first screening of La Guarimba was organized in collaboration with the Union of the Blind of Vibo Valentia.
